What Is a Claim?
A claim is a protected area of land that belongs to you.
When you create a claim:
- Other players cannot break your blocks
- Other players cannot place blocks
- Other players cannot open your chests
- Other players cannot steal items
- Your builds are protected from griefing
Only you control what happens inside your claim unless you give permission to others.
Think of a claim like owning land in the world.
If land is not claimed, anyone can modify it.
Claim Blocks
Claims use claim blocks to determine how much land you can protect.
You gain claim blocks by:
- Playing on the server
- Server rewards
- Admin events
You can check your claim blocks using:
/claimslist
This command shows:
- Your claims
- Available claim blocks
- Claim sizes
Creating Your First Claim
To create a claim you need a Golden Shovel.
Steps
- Hold a Golden Shovel
- Right-click the first corner of the land
- Walk to the opposite corner
- Right-click again
The area between those two points becomes your claim.
Your land is now protected.
Viewing Claim Borders
Claim borders show where your protection begins and ends.
To see them:
- Hold a Golden Shovel
- Right-click inside your claim
Markers will appear showing the corners of your claim.
Expanding or Resizing a Claim
You can make your claim bigger later.
Steps
- Hold a Golden Shovel
- Right-click a claim corner
- Move to the new location
- Right-click again
The claim will expand or shrink depending on where you place the new corner.
You must have enough claim blocks available to expand.
Giving Other Players Access
By default only you can interact with your claim.
You can allow other players access using trust commands.
Full Trust
Command: /trust <player>
Allows the player to:
- Build blocks
- Break blocks
- Open containers
- Use doors and switches
- Fully interact with the claim
Use this for trusted friends or teammates.
Container Trust
Command: /containertrust <player>
Allows the player to:
- Open chests
- Use furnaces
- Use crafting tables
- Use buttons and levers
Does NOT allow:
- Placing blocks
- Breaking blocks
This is good for shared storage or farms.
Access Trust
Command: /accesstrust <player>
Allows the player to:
- Open doors
- Press buttons
- Use switches
Does NOT allow:
- Opening containers
- Building or breaking blocks
This is useful for visitors.
Removing Permissions
To remove a player's permissions:
/untrust <player>
To remove all players from your claim:
/untrust all
Deleting a Claim
If you no longer want a claim, stand inside it and run:
/abandonclaim
This deletes the claim and returns the claim blocks.
To delete all your claims:
/abandonallclaims
Use this carefully.
Subclaims (Advanced)
Subclaims are smaller protected areas inside a main claim.
They allow different permissions in different parts of your base.
Examples:
- Public farm inside your base
- Shop area
- Shared storage room
Creating a Subclaim
- Hold a Stick
- Mark two corners inside your claim
The area becomes a subclaim.
Subclaims inherit permissions from the main claim unless changed.
Why Claims Are Important
Claims protect players from:
- Griefing
- Item theft
- Base destruction
- Players modifying builds without permission
Always claim important builds such as:
- Houses
- Storage rooms
- Farms
- Villager areas
- Redstone builds
Tips for Using Claims
Good habits:
- Claim your base early
- Leave space between claims
- Only trust players you know
- Check claim borders before building
Avoid:
- Claiming land you do not use
- Blocking other players from expanding
- Giving trust to strangers
